A metabolite is the processed product of a substance of the organization.

Primary metabolite

The primary metabolites are molecules present in all the cells of the organization and essential to its life. They are classified into four category: The simple Sugar S, Amino-acid , the Nucleic acid Proteins and .
  • Example: The Glucose is a primary metabolite: it is resulting from the degradation of the Amidon and it is one of the independent sources of our energy.

Secondary metabolite

The secondary metabolites are molecules having a distribution limited in the organization and among different the Espèces from organizations. At the plants, they are important with the survival and the propagation of the species. He plays at those various parts, like Signaux chemical S making it possible the plant to answer the constraints of the Environnement, the means of defense against the Herbivore S, the Pathogène S or the candidates. Others protect the plant from the solar radiations or facilitate the dispersion of the Pollen and of the Graine S.
  • the Nicotine is a secondary metabolite resulting from the degradation of a molecule essential to the Photosynthèse, therefore with the life of the green Plantes. But this nicotine is not directly useful for the survival of the seedling of Tabac. Moreover, nicotine is present only at plants at flowers, advanced: this is an index.
  • the Taxol resulting from the yew is a secondary metabolite: it is the derivative of a Molécule necessary to the synthesis of the membrane S of the cells and some Pigment S of photosynthesis.
