Mesvrin
The Mesvrin is an affluent of left bank of the Arroux, therefore a tributary of a tributary of the the Loire. Born in Saône-et-Loire close to the Creusot, it generally runs in direction of the west, entirely in the Département of Saône-et-Loire. It is thrown in Arroux a little downstream from the small town of Mesvres.
Hydrology
The flow of Mesvrin was observed over one 12 years period (1996-2007), with Mesvres. At this place the catchment area of the river is of 202 km ².
The interannual medium flow or module of the river with Mesvres is of 2,09 m ³ a second.
Mesvrin presents the seasonal fluctuations of flow rather important and typical of the rivers of the east of the basin of the Loire or the west of that of the Saone, resulting from the Massif Central (let us recall that the solid masses of the west of the Saône-et-Loire form part of it), with high waters of winter carrying the average monthly flow between 3,75 and 4,76 m ³ a second, from December to March included (with an in January maximum), and low waters of summer prolonged enough from June to October, with a fall of the monthly medium flow up to the level of 0,3 m ³ to August.
The VCN3 can fall until 0,019 m ³, in the event of dry period quinquennial, that is to say 19 liters a second, which is very low (see note). In addition the risings are often relatively important and contribute to the rise of water of Arroux. Indeed, the recorded maximum instantaneous flow was of 33 m ³ a second on January 14th, 2004, while the value maximum day laborer was of 30,8 m ³ a second at the same date. The QIX 10 or calculated flow of decennial rising is of 32 m ³ a second, and the QIX 20 of 33 m ³ (see note).

Note:
- the VCN3 is the past minimal quantity or minimal flow over three days consecutive .
- the QIX 20 or flow calculated for a vicennial rising, is the value of the flow calculated for a rising taking place statistically only every 20 years .
- One calculates also the QIX 50, i.e. the value of the flow calculated for a rising cinquantennale, taking place statistically only every 50 years .
- the VCN3 is the past minimal quantity or minimal flow over three days consecutive .
The Lame of water past in the basin of Mesvrin is of 327 millimetres annually, which is moderately high, similar to that of the basin of Arroux, a little higher than the overall average of France, but also higher than that of the whole of the catchment area of the Loire (260 millimetres). The specific Débit (or Qsp) is assembled at 10,3 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
