Messkirch (all. : Meßkirch) is a German city Bade-Wurtemberg, with the Southern of Sigmaringen, between the the Danube and the Lac of Constancy.

Close municipalities

The close municipalities are Inzigkofen and Beuron in north, Krauchenwies in the east, Wald (Hohenzollern) and Sauldorf in the south, and Leibertingen in the west.

The urban organization

The city is composed of the central city and the close villages: Buffenhofen, Dietershofen, Heudorf, Igelswies, Langenhart, Menningen, Rengetsweiler, Ringgenbach, Rohrdorf and Schnerkingen.

History

May 5th, 1800 a battle between the French troops and the Austrian troops took place beside Messkirch. An inscription with the name of Messkirch (MOESKIRCH) to the Triumphal arch in Paris recalls him.

  • Kahoku (birthplace of the philosopher Kitarō Nishida in the Préfecture of Ishikawa, Japan) - since 1985 (until 2004 the partner city was called „Unoke “, which during a reform of administration was famous Kahoku)
