Messier-Dowty is one of the two world leaders of the landing gears.

History

  • Held at 100% since 1998 by the French ex-group Snecma (become Safran), it is the fruit of fusion in 1994 between the branches undercarriages of Messier-Bugatti (France) and of Dowty (the U.K. and Canada).

  • Messier-Dowty France obtained the design (with Vélizy and the manufacture (with Bidos) of the nose gear A380. The responsibility for the central and principal trains was entrusted to Goodrich, in Oakville (Ontario).

Messier-Dowty France is installed in Paris region, on the site of Vélizy, like in the Yrénées-Atlantiques, close to the town of Oloron-Holy-Marie, on the site of Bidos; it has been in activity for more than 60 years.

The factory of 40.000 m2 employs today nearly 825 people.

3000 employees in all work in 8 establishments in the world: Bidos, Gloucester, Montreal, Seattle, Toronto, Singapore, Suzhou, Velizy.
