Mesothelae

The spiders mésothèles (Sub-order of the Mesothelae ) are primitive spiders characterized by a narrow Sternum on the ventral face of the Céphalothorax and by a Abdomen segmented outside. The sub-order counts 3 S.

Taxonomy

Sometimes one also includes in this group the following families, which usually are Mygalomorphes: Actinopodidae, Barychelidae, Idiopidae, Microstigmatidae, Migidae, Nemesiidae and Paratropidae.

According to certain sources also, the Liphistiidae would be the only family of this sub-order, which then would exclude the Arthrolycosidae and the Arthromygalidae. Other sources still recognize this district while subdividing the Liphistiidae in two distinct families: the Liphistiidae become less broad on the one hand, and the Heptathelidae, on the other hand.
