Mesitylene

The mesitylene or 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene , of Chemical formula C 9 H 12, is a Composé aromatic organics made up of a benzene core substituted by three groupings Méthyle S. It is manufactured by Distillation sulphuric Acétone in the presence of Acid, this acting last as Catalyze ur and agent of Déshydratation. It is a compound usually used like Solvant in research and industry.

Properties

The mesitylene is a colorless liquid, easily flammable. It is very little soluble in the Eau. On the other hand, its solubility in the Benzene, the ether and the alcohol S is rather high. It is naturally present in small quantities in the Pétrole and the coal tar.

Safety

Above 40°C, the mesitylene forms an explosive mixture with the air. It reacts violently with the Oxydant S forts with a risk of explosion. By inhalation, it causes headaches and an irritation of the throat. In concentration S raised, its vapors have an anesthetic action . The mesitylene is irritating for the skin, the eyes and the breathing apparatus.
