In Geomorphology, a mesa (Spanish for " table") is a rise in ground whose top is flat and the sides made up of cliffs.
The mesa is a geological form characteristic of the environments arid S which one finds in particular in the Southern - western of the the United States and which is generally formed when the zone is exposed to tectonic activities and with the erosion. One meets many examples of mesa through the world, in particular in Spain, Africa, in the Colorado (E. - U.), but also in India, Saudi Arabia or even in Australia. The " Large Mesa " , located in the Colorado, is regarded as most imposing.
