Merzling

The merzling is a Cépage tank German of white grapes.

Origin and geographical distribution

The type of vine is obtaining Johannes Zimmermann in the institute Staatliches Weinbauinstitut Freiburg with Freiburg-in-Brisgau. The genetic cause is checked and it is a crossing of the type of vines white Seyval X (Riesling X Ruländer) carried out about 1960. The type of vine is authorized in many Länder in Germany. It is also authorized in Belgium.

The merzling is a hybrid with parentages of Vitis will vinifera, Vitis rupestris and Vitis aestivalis.

Farming aptitudes

Maturity is of second time early: 10 days after the chasselas.
