At the time, the weekly magazines of STRIP CARTOONS, still regularly publish novels which are spread out sometimes over several months, and which are illustrated in turn by the various draftsmen of the newspaper. For Tintin they will be more than one ten novels which will be thus illustrated between 1952 and 1960.

Crayonnés for Mitacq and Vance

Mitacq

With beginning of the year 60, Mitacq draws two series of face, the Patrol of the Beavers in Spirou, and a new series more adult impetus in Pilote, Jacques Gall.

To manage to hold this very constant rate/rhythm of production of two boards per week, Mitacq will call regularly upon Rene Follet, less overloaded than him, which will help it while realizing crayonnés of boards.

This collaboration will start about 1963, with the 4th adventure of Gall, the black goddess , will continue on second half of the 5th album, the secrecy of the templiers , and finally in 1966 on 6th and the last Gall, the naufrageurs , or the first 20 pages are cosignées Follet + Mitacq.

When the series Jacques Gall stops, judged too traditional for the new formula of the newspaper Pilote, Mitacq lance then Stany Derval to defer television, in Spirou.

For the treasure of Montorgueil , the first history published in 1968, Follet realizes some crayonnés. In 1973 on gallops of the hell , it cosigne again with Mitacq boards 7 to 10, and 12 to 33.

The final inking of Mitacq on these various crayonnées boards, will not completely gum the work of Merry. Its style, the installations and attitudes of the characters, the faces, remain recognizable in spite of the work of setting to ink.

Vance

Merry Rene and Vance lived a long time the same district of Brussels, in Uccle, until the latter leaves to settle in Spain.

Their collaboration starts in the Seventies, on the series Bob Morane , Bruno Brazil , then later it will be Bruce J. Hawker and both Marshall Blueberry .

Merry provides crayonnés, drafts, preparatory studies for boxes.

Vance will work again these crayonnés, will change the composition, framing, which standardizes the style graphic of the album, but made disappear the contribution from Merry.

Contrary to Mitacq, these collaborations will never be mentioned in the albums.
