Merrill Lynch is an American bank of investment whose seat to the 1 Furnace world Financial center is located at Manhattan. Founded in 1914 by Charles E. Merrill and Edmund C. Lynch. It manages 1800 billion dollars of credits for its customers. Operating in more than 40 countries, it posts an annual world turnover of 48 billion dollars (in 2005).

November 1st, 2007, the chairman Satnley O' Neal, resigned following many criticisms concerning its management of the crisis of the subprimes . The bank would show losses of more than 2,24 billion dollars. It was replaced by Alberto Cribiore.
