Meredith Monk

Meredith Monk is a compositrice, singer, director, scenario writer, actress and American choreographer born the November 20th 1942 with Lima (Peru).

Biography

Since the years 1960, Meredith Monk developed a multidisciplinary activity, at the borders of the music, theater, and dance.

It is especially known for its vocal wide matter innovations of Techniques of play, which it started to develop in solo before forming its own units or the voice does not know limits. Its name was definitively attached to a high place of the culture avant-gardist New Yorkean: The Kitchen .

It has a active Ambitus of three octaves of serious E flat with against E flat. It is also dependant of friendship with the singer Bjork who that Ci took again one of her songs " Gotham Lullaby ".
