The Merdoum is a style of song and a traditional rate/rhythm of the area of the Kordofan to the Sudan, popularized by Abdel Gadir Salim which went to the research of the sources of' inspiration in its native land. Its music is close to the various evolutions of the Egyptian musical styles.

The rate/rhythm merdoum is resulting from various Arab influences brought by the wandering people come with their herds from all the arabo-Islamic empire.
