Mephistopheles

In the legend of Faust, Méphistophélès is the incarnation of the Diable. The roots are probably to seek with dimensions one of Latin mephiticus and mephitis pestilential exhalation.

  • the group of Death Métal Deicide called one of the songs of their first album Mephistopheles , in which Glen Benton howls “ Satan! Take me Mephistopheles! ”.
  • the group of Black Metal Dimmu Borgir called one of its songs the Maelstrom Mephisto in the album Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
  • a derivative of this name “Mephiston”, was included in the play of plate Warhammer 40.000 .
  • In the video game Diablo 2 , one of last the boss names Méphisto.
  • In the second extension of Neverwinter Nights , the devil which one combat is Mephistopheles.
  • In the roleplay Keeps and Dragons , Méphistophélès is the Archduke reigning on Cania, the eighth of the Last nine Hells of Baator.
  • In the play FPS TimeSplitters 2 , Méphistophélès is a giant boss in the mission of Notre-Dame de Paris but also a playable character as a multijouor. He is described like a monster coming from a parallel world.
  • In the film Exquisite Corpse first edition, Méphistophélès takes the appearance of various characters in order to disturb Roxy, a singer glam-rock'n'roll on the decline which signed a pact with the Devil.
  • In the film Ghost Rider, Méphistophélès (or Méphisto) is the name of the Diable.
  • the group Radiohead speaks about Méphistophélès in the title Videotape of the album In Rainbows.
  • In the Universe Marvel, Mephisto is an entity - distinct from the devil biblical (but often confused by people with him) - reigning on a dimension pointing out the hells (to feed confusion) and which collects the hearts, coveting in particular that of the Surfer of Money.

Méphisto de Goethe is the incarnation of the negation: “I am the spirit which always denies; and it is with justice: because all that exists is worthy to be destroyed, it would be thus better than nothing existed. Thus, all that you name sinned, destruction, in short, which one understands by evil, here is my element. ”
