Menzel Abderrahmane
Menzel Abderrahmane is a city located at 60 kilometers in the north of Tunis on northern bank of the Lac of Bizerte. It belongs to the Agglomération of Bizerte of which it is separate only of a few kilometers.
Attached to the Governorship of Bizerte, it belongs to the delegation of Menzel Jemil and constitutes a municipality of 16.824 inhabitants.
The city would have been founded in second half of the 10th century by the Omeyyades. It is characterized economically by the importance of the manufacturing Industrie which occupies nearly 40% of the Active population. Important a university center is in phase of realization since the work of the first phase started in January 2004. This work which proceeds on a site of almost a hundred Hectare S, in the vicinity immediate of the Lac of Bizerte and town of Menzel Jemil, and being next to the highway A4, consists of the construction of a preparatory institute of the technological studies, technological spaces, of an university home of 1200 beds and a Restaurant of 1500 places. The overall costs of the various components of the first section of this project are estimated at 35,2 million dinars. As for the second section, it will include/understand an institute of higher learning of trade and accountancy, an institute of higher learning for the studies of ingéniorat and an university of engineers. It is also question, in this public university, to teach the Droit and the Social sciences. Within the framework of this operation of great scale, the town of Menzel Abderrahmane profits from a urban Réhabilitation important with the complete refitting of the entry of the city, public spaces and the seat of the municipality.
