Mennecy

Mennecy is a common department of the the Essonne, in the area Île-de-France, in France. Its inhabitants are the menneçois .

It has the only Olympic swimming pool of the Essonne (91) The city is connected to Paris with the RER D ('' Mennecy '') (45mn) and the A6 which passes by Corbeil-Essonnes.

Geography

Located in the natural area of the Hurepoix, Mennecy is crossed by the Rivière of the the Essonne and contains the Parc of Villeroy which has a remarkable alley of trees: the alley of the sequoias.

History

  • Family of Neufville de Villeroy (to be checked)
  • 1735 - 1748: creation of the porcelain factory of Villeroy established in Mennecy by François Barbin, under the protection of the duke of Retz
