The town of Mendoza is the capital of the province of Mendoza, in Argentine.

Situation - description

It is located at the feet of the the Andes, in the North-West of the province, in the department capital. But the city extends especially on the close departments and forms the 4th agglomeration of the country as a population and importance. It is what is called Large Mendoza.

It is built at an altitude of 824 mètres.
The urban base of the current city was created in 1863 by French Ballofet, charged with rebuilding the city shaven by a seism. This plan includes the strategic provision of various places and places. History

It is most important of the cities located apart from the Wet Pampa. The population of Godoy Cruz (the most populated communes of the agglomeration) represents the quarter of the total population.

Town planning

The center of the city is abundantly provided out of trees, irrigated by a whole network of small channels (acequias) which function in a way coordinated and controlled so as to bring only the quantities of water necessary. The city is centered around the plaza Independencia, with a mall, the street Sarmiento. In the center of the city, there are many cybercafés and trade in the open air. The important streets of the center are: avenue 9 of julio, which occurred San Martín, which occurred Aristides Villanueva and avenue Tired Heras. The avenue Aristides Villanueva is the center of the night life, therefore densément equipped with attracting bars, very active the weekend. Several small parks, called " plazas" are dispersed in the city. Three of them, the most important, is Plaza España, Plaza Independencia and Plaza Fundacional.

international repute One finds in the city of the football stadiums, a zoo, the principal university (Universidad Nacional de Cuyo) and impressing it monument which commemorates the crossing of the Andes by the army of Libertador San Martin. Climate

Mendoza has very dry summers with wetter winters. The average temperatures for January (in summer) are of 35  °C the day, and 23  °C the night. For July (in winter) they are respectively of 12  °C and 3  °C.

The city has an international airport, called Aeropuerto Internacional de Mendoza Francisco Gabrielli, El Plumerillo.

The public service of the urban transport of the city has a park of trolley bus. There are 55 units of them, that is to say the greatest number in Argentina.
