Mendefera

Mendefera , capital of the zone of Debub (Southern), 60.000 inhabitants, located at 50 km in the south of the capital Asmara in the old province of Seraye. Its name means " who osera" in the direction where “which will dare to attack it”, in memory of the inhabitants of Seraye who resisted starting from the central hill against the Imam Ahmed Gragne, carried out by the Adkamé Melaga and against the Italians lasting of many years.

The city have many monuments, like the church Saint Michael or the market with cereals.

The city is connected by the road to Dekemhare, Adi Kala, Areza, Asmara and Barentu.
