Context
Wag the Dog is appeared with the the United States less than one month before the beginning of the sexual scandal implying President Bill Clinton and a trainee of the White House, Monica Lewinsky.Whereas the President was in the middle of this scandal which dominated the American political scene in 1998 and 1999, the United States engaged in three military operations: the Operation Fox of the desert (: three days of bombardments on the Iraq while at the same time the Chambre of the Representatives discussed the possibility of undertaking procedures to relieve Bill Clinton), the Operation " range infinie" (: two missiles launched on terrorist targets with the Sudan and in Afghanistan, only three days after a televised advertisement in which the President admitted to have had a " relation inappropriée" with Lewinski) and the intervention of NATO in ex- Yugoslavia occurred a few weeks after Clinton avoided the dismissal. Several critics asserted that the purpose of these operations were to divert the attention of the public and the media of the scandal in the White House.
These circumstances contributed to give to film an additional media attention. Serb national television even presented Wag the Dog in full heart of strike NATO, in 1999.
