A memory card is a unit of data storage numerical used generally for the storage of the numerical stereotypes in the numerical cameras, for the safeguards of left on video game consoles, but also in music players MP3 or instrument electronic professionals such as total stations.

Incompatibility

Generally these charts are incompatible the ones compared to the others, a memory card for a console Sony does not go for a console Nintendo for example. In the field of the numerical imagery, the charts are incompatible in the direction where a numerical Camera uses generally only one type of chart. The numerical cameras supporting more than one type of chart have the appearances of exceptions. However there exists on the market of the small cases multilecteurs (in English “Multi-Card Reader”), usable by the port USB or PCMCIA of the computer, or integrated in the computers fixed or portable, and able to read many formats. There also exists of the adapters to read a type of chart on an apparatus intended to read another type: for example to read a CompactFlash on a port PCMCIA. However, these adapters can read a type of chart which is compatible. As in the CompactFlash example and PCMCIA, these two formats are compatible since the CompactFlash charts are to some extent miniaturized charts PCMCIA.
