Memories of egotism

The Souvenirs of egotism are the second autobiographical philosopher's stone of Stendhal beside the Vie of Henri Brulard and the Journal . The author tells there the memories of his life with Paris after the fall of Napoleon. He tells there thoroughly, in 1832 at the time of his stay with Civitavecchia, history the one period of his life going from 1821 to 1830. This autobiographical account will remain unfinished.

The title

Egotism is not a synonym of selfishness selfishness constitutes a danger rather of it. Stendhal wants to explore its own person and to try to know itself. Larousse of the XXe century defines it as follows: " Term employed by Stendhal to indicate the analytical study made by a writer, of his clean individualité".
