Melody Maker

The Melody Maker , published with the the United Kingdom, was (until the suspension of its publication) the oldest musical review in the world.

Founded in 1926, it was initially intended to the musicians, then quickly turned to the Jazz. In the Years 1950, the Rock-and-roll was approached little there, it was thus found gradually in second place behind the review New Musical Express train (NME). Nevertheless, its diffusion did not cease growing. In the Years 1970, 250.000 specimens were sold each week.

The following decades, Melody Maker continued to present the scene rock'n'roll and indie, with the detriment of the dance and the rap, then emerging. The sales dropped, and it was started again as a magazine on glazed paper. It ceased its publication in 2000, amalgamating officially with the NME (published company consequently), which reinstated some of its journalists.
