Meliphagidae

The family of the méliphagidés (or Meliphagidae ) belongs to the class of the Oiseau X and to the order of the Passériformes.

Systematic position

Etymology

The surname comes from the Greek meliphago , word made up of meli (Miel) and phago (to eat). That refers to the behavior of the members of this family since they nourish primarily nectar flowers.
