Founded in 1998, Melbourne Storm is the first professional club of Rugby to XIII professional based with Melbourne, city where the Australian Football dominates. The club is held by News Corporation.

History

In the beginning, the club was founded with a view to play in the dissenting competition of the Super League. In 1998, championnant it of the ARL and that of the Super League amalgamate to become the NRL. Melbourne Storm is accepted to play in this new competition.

For their first season, the club finishes in the 3rd place of the championship and loses in playoff against the Brisbane Broncos.

In 1999, Melbourne Storm gains the championship, by beating St George Illawarra Dragons, over the score from 20 to 18.

In 2006, the club finishes first of the regular season with a total of 44 points, a record for the NRL. Finally, Melbourne loses vis-a-vis the Brisbane Broncos, on the score from 15 to 8.

In 2007, as last year the club finishes first of the regular season with the same number of points, but this time Ci, they beat Manly Sea Eagles on the score of 34 has 8.
