Mel Lastman (March 9th 1933 -) is a Canadian politician who were mayor of Toronto 1997 with 2003 and mayor of North York of 1972 with 1997. Charismatic personality, it played a key function in the assertion of Toronto like metropolis of Canada. Of Polish and Jewish origin, he was mayor during the creation of the Mégaville in 1997 and at the time of the Power failure North-American of 2003.
