  • One names it sometimes the city of Charles VII. The city is known since the 9th century, as well by sources written as by archaeological sources. With the Middle Ages, the city develops around the church and of the castle. At the 15th century, it is equipped with a third enclosure and its privileges of frankness are confirmed. The city has Romance monuments and Gothics which testify the two periods records of its history. The construction of a new residence per Jean de Berry, at the end of the 14th century, contributes to the development of arts; the arrival of the court of the king Charles VII with the castle develops the economy. The activity of the city declines gradually after the death of the sovereign. It begins again at the time of the installation of porcelain at the 19th century. With the development of the industry of the porcelain with Mehun and in its area, a new city is built around manufactures. Before 1850, the town of Mehun is organized around its medieval center, since it extends beyond the valley from Yèvre. In 1880, its population almost doubled and, in 1900, Pillivuyt manufacture employs more than 1000 people.
