Medium of Bordet and Gengou
The Medium of Bordet and Gengou is a medium of selective insulation (when it is added with céfalexine with 40 mg/l) of Bordetella pertussis . It is in 1906 that Bordet and Gengou makes push the bacillus (described 6 years earlier by Bordet) responsible for the Coqueluche on this medium.

Traditional pressure-sealing. The céfalexine is added extemporanément.
Characteristics
This medium is a solid medium (agar with 12 g/l), very rich person, containing two detoxifier, coal and the starch. The Antibiotique added (Céfalexine) allows the selection of the Bordetella.
Results
The colonies of Bordetella pertussis appear after 5 to 6 days with 37 °C and are characteristic. They are of type S (initially, then R), in mercury droplet and haemolytic.
