Medicus index
The Index Medicus (IM) is a publication of the National library of medicine of the United States of America (NLM) which gathers the tables of content of principal the re-examined biomedical and Médecine, initially American, then international. The publication began in 1879 and stopped in 2004 with volume number 45, when the Database MEDLINE took the relai.
The publication was initiated by it by John Shaw Billings, director of the ancestor of the NLM, the Library off the Office off the General Surgeon, United States Army . This publication is similar to the Bibliographia medica published in the same period by the Institut of Bibliography of Paris.
