Medical Care Continuity
Medical Care Continuity (MCC) is a Consortium created in 2005 and until May 2007 project launched by Axa Assistance, Eurogroup Alliance and France Telecom for the experimentation in four European countries of a new service of maintenance medicalized in residence for the patients of the Cancer.
This initiative is financed to 50% by Europe, profits from the support of the European Union through the project ETEN. It makes it possible to the patient to be followed to his residence thanks to a station joining together a camera TV-controllable and a screen which establish the bond with its support center or hospital structure (HAD). The patient can activate this system using a Télécommande with single button. He can then call or accept a communication and thus come into vocal contact then visual.
The call can be transferred towards the Médecin from the support center, then towards the hospital so necessary via Internet (ADSL). A doctor can thus discuss with the patient to follow the evolution of his health condition, to view his environment by TV-controlling the camera. If need be, it zoome on the patient, the document-case or medical equipment in the vicinity, takes stereotypes and prints them. Thanks to this service, the family practitioner or the medical staff who returns visit with the patient can come easily into contact with the team of the center of assistance.
In France the CHU of Grenoble and the Private clinic of the Park of Saint-Priest-in-Jarez take part in this experimentation. This device of Télésurveillance was already tested successfully in Italy: the exit of the hospital takes place earlier on average 22 days and the hospital expenses are reduced approximately 50%.
