Medellín is a village of the province of Badajoz, Extrémadure, Spain. It is the birthplace of Hernán the Cortes (in 1485) and of Alonso Hernández Puertocarrero but also the site of the Bataille of Medellín, during the war of Spain. The city counts 2.348 inhabitants in 2005. A castle in ruins dominates the village top of a plain.
