Medal commemorative of the FINUL

The Temporary Force of the United Nations in Lebanon , also called FINUL , was established in March 1978 to supervise the withdrawal of the Israeli forces in the south Lebanon, to restore peace and safety, and to assist the government of Lebanon by ensuring the effective return of the authority in the zone. To date, the mission is always in hand. A distinction at summer creates to commemorate their action.

Characteristics

Ribbon

The ribbon is composed of three broad band blue UNO (9 mm), clear green (11 mm) and blue UNO (9 mm) separated by three narrow bands (1 mm of width each one) white, red and white. The colors represent the flags of the United Nations and Lebanon.

Medal

It is out of bronze.
  • the avers the badge of the United Nations surrounded by a laurel wreath with ONE in top,
  • the reverse it is marked (IN THE SERVICE OFF PEACE).

In the everyday usage the medal overseas with staples " LIBAN" is attached with the medal of the United Nations.

Attribution

This medal is decreed in 90 days recognition of service, starting from March 19th, 1978.
