Medal Sir John William Dawson
The royal Société of Canada created in 1985 the medal Sir John William Dawson to honor its first president (1882 - 1883), who was most remarkable Scientifique and educational Canadian of his time: Geologist, Naturalist, Teacher, author, religious Man, Administrator of institutions of teaching and promoter of the knowledge.
To point out the universality of the interests of Dawson, the medal is allotted in recognition of a contribution eminent and supported in at least two different fields in which the royal Société of Canada is interested or in interdisciplinary research.
The distinction comprises a money medal and a purse of 2.500 $. It is allotted every two years if a candidature is judged for the height.
