Mechanical engineering of Normandy

The Mechanical engineering of Normandy (CMN) is a company of Naval construction, specialized in the military buildings.

Historically established with Cherbourg, its head office is in Paris. It also has building sites in Great Britain, with Newcastle and Lowestoft.

History

The building sites were founded in 1956 by Felix Amiot, which had made career in the aeronautical design during the inter-war period, on the basis of Amiot Building site.

They built their fame on the models of Fighting (fast ships of combat) and Vigilante (ships of monitoring), helped in that by the episode of the Vedettes of Cherbourg. The idea of Amiot was indeed to create hunters of seas, light and fast buildings, strongly armed.
