The Mbororo or bororo is to Me a bovine race African. In English, it bears the name of red fulani . The names of wodabe , fellata , abori , bodadi' and brahaza exist too.
Origin
It is about a race innate Zébu with large horns arrived of India to Africa by the Indian Ocean, brought by the Arab . The draining of the the Sahel at the 19th century involved the extension of the zebus, more resistant to the dryness.
Cette race occupies of vast territories in migratory Pastoralisme of the east of the Niger to the Sudan.
Morphology
It wears a dark red plain dress. The bump of the garrot, the ears hanging and the loose skin under the neck attest of its membership of the subspecies Bos taurus indicus . It carries long horns in quadrant up to 140 cm length.
Aptitudes
It is a high bovine race for the prestige of the family which raises it. The herds are of big size but the production is weak. The dairy production is anecdotic. Each day, a different cow is milked so that the calf does not suffer from it. The meat is consumed at the time of festivals. This type of breeding endangers the grazed areas: the overgrazing involves an erosion for lack of vegetable cover at the time of the rains. The herds are kept by the pastors of the predatory ones, but the high number of animals involves diseases and a strong mortality of young calves.
