Me Diq

Me Diq (in Arab المضيق or commonly called Rincón , which wants to say Spanish “corner” in ) is a Moroccan coastal town, located in the area Tangier-Tétouan. Its inhabitants is Mdikis. In 2003 its population is of 60.000 inhabitants. The city is located between the towns of Tétouan and Ceuta, on the Mediterranean coast. Me Diq is known for its strong tourist attraction during the period of summer. Thanks to its beautiful beach giving on the the Mediterranean and its capacity Hotel ière and of restoration, Me Diq succeeds in each year attracting more than 100.000 top-of-the-range tourists.

The inhabitants of the city are known for their simplicity and their generosity. This report is translated, for example, by their strong attachment with the Spanish Football and with the Andalusian culture . The majority of the inhabitants speak the Spanish , and the majority clearly expresses its enthusiasm for a Spanish football team (often FC Barcelona or Real Madrid).

Etymology

Me diq , mediek or madiak wants to say in wedged Arabic “, narrow”. Indeed, this seaside resort is limited to south by mini-chain of mountains which extends on the sea, which gives on the coast, with the back from port (Al marsa) Ain Chejra (the source of the tree).

Me Diq is also called in Spanish rincon (the corner) who refers also to this narrow corner on the coast.

SNIM: Me Diq per hour of the water sport

  • During the international nautical Week of Me Diq (SNIM), of many Régate S of Voilier S are organized in the bay dsur a distance of 25 kilometers to broad of the the Mediterranean.
  • the SNIM is organized by the Royal Yachting Club of Me Diq in collaboration with the prefecture of Me Diq-Fnideq and the Moroccan royal Federation of veil. It also profits from the support of several large Sponsor S: Maroc Telecom, Banque Populaire Group, Samir, the APDN…

  • This demonstration is the occasion to promote the tourist potential of the area. These last years, of many Spanish and British investors are interested in this part of the Moroccan coast, which makes great strides without precedent.
  • the international dimension of this nautical week also contributes to sit the notoriety of the area. Indeed, more than 400 people representing ten country (Morocco, Egypt, Spain, Bahrain, France, etc) take part in the various tests of sailing ships, of Laser or Optimist. Many socioeducational and cultural demonstrations also come to enrich this demonstration.

  • After the great success of the SNIM organized in bay of Me diq of the July 22nd to the July 28th 2006 at the time of the festival of the Throne, the Royal Yachting Club of Me Diq registers its name on the book of the sports of veil to the Morocco by carrying out a performance which realized forever by a club by hoisting high the Moroccan flag in Egypt.

  • the RYC of Me Diq indeed gained the first and third place with a modest team of two athletes who discovered the ABC of the veil at the 10 years age and which evolved/moved since at the school of veil of the club. This school always opened its doors free with all the children of the area, without any discrimination. The club is implied in the social action in spite of the cost of the material placed at the disposal of the pupils registered at the school of veil which is supervised and directed by qualified executives which have experiment and one lived in the world of the veil.

  • This engagement results in the prize list carried out during these ten last years by the club and its candidates. The triumph of Charm el-Cheikh is not randomly. The national team of Bahrain returned directly of the Holland where it took part in an international competition. That of the Qatar had just carried out a one month round of preparation in Asia. That of the Kuwait chose the school of veil of Me diq where it spent twenty days of drive this winter.

The Royal Yachting club of Me Diq is the single club of the African continent and the Arab world which has a school of well structured veil: classes of course with the audio-visual means, the dormitories separated for girls and boys, restaurant, gaming room, boats for the trainers and of course the principal support of the school, of the sailing ships which are divided into two fleets; that of the training and the leisure, and that of the competition.
  • the club puts the school at the provision of the national clubs and particularly at the FRMV. Moreover, the program of 2006 for the preparation of the national teams in “Laser and Optimist) for the preparation of the international regatta and the Maghrebian championship 2006 proceeded entirely at the school of veil of Me Diq.

  • to recall that the RYCM is bound by an agreement of exchange and collaboration with several foreign clubs of which the Egyptian club of veil of Alexandria which took part in two preceding international regattas SNIT 2005 and SNIM.2006 organized by the RYCM.

  • This year the Egypt which maintains the close links with the club of Me Diq took part with two teams in the SNIM 2006.

  • Directed by a justified and ambitious committee, this club took up a new challenge with the participation of a team of the club in this Arab championship. It dealt with all the expenses of participation of this operation without hesitation (3 plane tickets, allowances and of another expenses). A request for contribution was addressed to the FRMV before leaving, but the decision will be made during the next meeting of the federal office.

  • an particular importance was reserved by the Egyptian media with the Moroccan team which animated this Arab championship. After a long absence of Morocco to the Arab championships of veil, the national flag was hoisted with highest with the seat of the Arab Union of the federation of veil.

Port of Me Diq

The port of the town of Me Diq is divided into two parts: for tourism and the other for the fishing . the marina was increased and changed place to improve the services offered to the foreign and national tourist boats. Whereas the part fishes was modified and saw its size also growing to protect the boats from the marine currents and to increase the capacity of lodging of the port.

Geographical location

Located at 15 km of Tétouan and at 25 km of Sebta, Mediek is limited to north by the municipality of Fnideq, in the south by the commune of Mellaliyine, in the west by the commune of Alliyene and in the east by the sea the Mediterranean.

Its vocation first was marine and it will remain it thanks to the fishing port whose realization goes back to the years 1970.

The urban area of Mediek extends on a surface from 480 hectares, of which 153 are urbanized.

Today, the ambitionne city to become a tourist destination of the dimension of the other places of Mediterranean dreams, such Torremolinos and Marbella.

Mediek became a long walk which has as a companion the Mediterranean, a pleasure of curving between its own lanes with the same topic and a marine design.
