Meïdoum

Meïdoum is an archeological site of Egypt located halfway between Gizeh and the Fayoum. The major monument is the Pyramide of Meïdoum, center of a necropolis large Mastaba S.

Among the major mastabas of the necropolis one will quote:

  • the mastaba M17, anépigraphe thus anonymous, but which particularly holds the attention by its proportions and its underground device which attaches it to the monuments of and S;
  • the mastaba M15, pertaining to Rahotep and its wife Nofret, who contained the famous statues of late exposed to the museum of Cairo;
  • the mastaba M6, pertaining to Néfermaât and its wife Itet, who delivered famous reliefs and paintings also exposed to the museum of Cairo, of which famous “the Oies of Meïdoum”.
