Mclusky was a group of alternative Rock originating in Cardiff, Wales, formed by Andy " Falco" Falkous (Song, Guitar), Jonathan Chapple (low, song) and Matthew Harding (battery), itself replaced at the end of 2003 per Egglestone Jack.
The legend forged by the members of the group wants that Falkous and Harding met in 1996 in Blackwood Miners Institute, a theater of their birthplace and of which they were both driven back because they got dressed as underground workers. Some time later, the two men met, at the time of the festival of Reading, Jon Chapple, when this last, passably éméché started to urinate on their tent…
As that was suggested thereafter, it is more probable than Andy and Matthew met whereas they worked in the center of calls of a company of double glazing to Cardiff.
The two accomplices were discovered musical ambitions after a discussion about the festival of Reading. Falkous made listen to in Harding the songs that he had written by giving him a demonstration on audio cassette, and they formed shortly after a group named Best, in homage to the first beater of the Beatles, Pete Best. The original bass player of the group was Geraint Bevan, an old knowledge of Harding.
After one year within the group, Geraint Bevan preferred its career of actor in his place of bass player. During its short existence, Best had given a concert in company of a group named Myrtle, which had in its center a character lit as a bass player: Jon Chapple.
Just after the departure of Geraint, the two other members of the group succeeded in convincing Chapple to join them. The recruitment of this novel member was not done without the assistance of the demonstration that Best had just recorded with the “Ocean Studios” of Cardiff. This demonstration, entitled Benedict EP and sold by the group itself, is regarded as the semi-official beginnings of the group.
Best signed on the London label Seriously Groovy which left their first official disc, the 3-titles “Huwuno”.
The group changed its name into Mclusky in 1999 and left its first album My Pain and Sadness is More Sad and Painful Than Yours in 2000 (left on Fuzzbox), before being the praises object of international criticism with their second effort Mclusky Do Dallas in 2002. Their third album, The Difference Between Me and You Is That I' m Not one Fire accepted a similar success of regard. Their the last two albums were produced by the producing American Steve Albini.
The group separates the January 7th 2005. Andy Falkous made the news official by an advertisement on the site of the group, the January 10th. The official statement indicates that “ the reason of this dissolution is private and not as funny as one can imagine it ”. It will appear later that the tensions growing between Falkous and Chapple would be at the origin of Split.
