Mbissel
Mbissel is a village of the west of the Senegal.
History
Mbissel is the first village where were established, at the 14th century the Guelwaars, an aristocracy mandingue.
It was the first capital of the Royaume of Sine.
In the locality, a site was classified by the Historic buildings. It is about the tomb of Meïssa Waly Dione, founder of the Royaume of Sine, that which Léopold Sédar Senghor designates like the “elephant of Mbissel” in a famous poem: “Elephant of Mbissel, by your ears absent with the eyes, Understand my Ancestors my prayer pious” .
