Mayreau is more the inhabited small island of the Archipel of the Grenadian in the Caribbean, with a surface of approximately 4 km ² and a population of approximately 300 inhabitants. She belongs to the State of Saint-Vincent and the Grenadines. She is located between Union at south-west and Canouan at the North-East. The population concentrates in the village of Old Wall, located in top of a hill in the south-west of the island. It is an autonomous community, and electricity is provided by a general generator only since 2002. Mayreau has also small a Seaside resort on Saltwhistle Bay. The island has only one concrete road which goes from Saltwhistle Bay to Saline Bay and crosses the village. On the top of the island the Catholic church is, the school which accommodates about fifty pupils and a building for telecommunications. This point offers a beautiful panorama on Tobago Cays, Canouan and Union. The island has 3 sources of fresh water on its oriental party. Saline Bay is named thus because of the small salt water pond, located just at the east of the beach. Salt was one of the resources of the island and was exported formerly but is not used from now on any more but for the local request. The island is mainly inhabited by fishermen and also saw tourism.
