History

Mayo Clinic developed starting from the medical practice of Dr. William Worrall Mayo (1819-1911), and of his two sons, William James Mayo (1861-1939) and Charles Horace Mayo (1865-1939). It is in 1846 that W.W. Mayo emigrated of its area of origin of Salford, in the west of England, with the the United States where it obtained its diploma of medicine in 1850 in the state of Indiana.
