1864 : The municipality of parish of Saint-Malachy is detached from the municipality of canton of Lochaber.
1954 : Saint-Malachy changes his name into municipality of Mayo .

In the beginning, the municipality was in the Comté of Papineau . It was built-in the regional municipality of county of Papineau in 1983.
