Maynooth (in Irish Maigh Nuad ) is a city located in the north of the Comté of Kildare in Ireland.
Its proximity of Dublin and its service road by the lines of bus of the capital make that the city completely formed part of the agglomeration dublinoise.
The old name of Maynooth means the plain of Nuada , which is the maternal grandfather of the legendary hero Irish Finn Mac Cumaill.
Maynooth is one of the principal centers academic of Ireland with two universities installed in the center town: Holy Patrick' S College, created by the King of England George III in 1795 and the National University off Ireland founded in 1995.
The city is one of the major centers of the history of Ireland with the presence of the castle of Maynooth and Paperboard House, two old places of residence of the Duke of Leinster. The city was inside the medieval limits of the Blade. The principal historical buildings of the city are in the Saint Patrick' S College. Some are even former to its creation. These old buildings are of Gothic Georgien style or néo.
Today the city is very dynamic. It is the administrative seat of very many companies and is the commercial heart of the Western part of the agglomeration dublinoise.
