Maynard Holbrook Jackson, Jr. (March 23rd 1938 with Dallas - June 23rd 2003 with Arlington) is an American politician member of the democratic party; he is the first mayor Afro-American of Atlanta in Georgia.
Maynard Jackson was graduate Université of Morehouse (then university for blacks) in 1956. He was twice mayor of Atlanta, 1974 to 1982 and 1990 to 1994. He dies of an heart attack in 2003 and he is buried with the cemetery of Oakland to Atlanta. Shortly after its death, its name was added in the name of the international airport of the city, which it had contributed to modernize and which is called from now on International airport Hartsfield-Jackson. (William B. Hartsfield is also a former mayor of Atlanta)
