Max Taut

max Taut (born the May 15th 1884 with Königsberg at the time in Germany - died the February 26th 1967 with Berlin) was a German Architecte .

Biography

Max Taut was the young brother of the architect Bruno Taut. In the Twenties it built buildings of offices for trade unions. He was member of the Gläserne Kette , of the Novembergruppe and the think tank of avant-garde Zehnerring . Its most important work includes/understands the building of the printers in Dudenstraße in Berlin (1924-1926) and the stores of the co-operative of consumers with Oranienplatz always in Berlin (1929-1932).

The importance of its work lies initially in the development of structures post/beam which expressed construction and symbolized the democratic opening of construction.

After the Second world war it created a new school of architecture in the Universität der Künste (University of Arts) of Berlin. Its work of post-war period includes/understands the Reutersiedlung in Bonn (1948-1952) and the college Ludwig George in Darmstadt (1951-1952).

Max Taut was buried in the cemetery of the Choriner monastery.

  • Old federal house of the German printers in Berlin-Kreuzberg (1924 - 1926)
  • Alexander-von-Humboldt College in Berlin-Köpenick, at the time called Oberlyzeum “Dorotheenschule” (1929)
  • House of the trade unions Francfort-sur-le-Main (1929 - 1931)
  • School complex of Nöldnerplatz to Berlin Lichtenberg (1927 - 1932)
  • College Ludwig George with Darmstadt
