Maximilian Raoul Walter Steiner more known under the name of max Steiner (born the May 10th 1888 and deceased the December 28th 1971) is a type-setter of film musics austro-American. Born with Vienna in Austria, he emigrates with the the United States in 1914.

Biography

He is born in a family bathing in the artistic medium, his/her father was thus director of a theater and its godfather was Richard Strauss. Very young person it shows talents of type-setter wonder. He studies the music and receives the teaching of Gustav Mahler and Johannes Brahms. As of the 16 years age, he writes an operetta.

Working in the United Kingdom in 1914, it obtains in spite of its nationality of papers to leave to the United States thanks to sponsorship the Duc Westminster. During 15 years he works with New York as leader or arranger with Broadway.

In 1929 it joined Hollywood, initially for the orchestration of the film Rio Rita for RKO Radio Pictures. Its career is launched by the original soundtrack of King Kong in 1933. It composed for tens of films among which Casablanca , Arsenic and old laces , the rebel or Gone With The Wind .

Rewards

Max Steiner was named 26 times at the Oscars, receiving them with three recoveries. It had on a purely posthumous basis its star on the Walk off Famed (1551 Vine Street).
