max Radiguet is a French writer born with Landerneau in 1816 and died in Brest in 1899.

Biography

There exists little of sources making it possible to reconstitute the course of a life which seems to have been that of a dilettante, introduced into the rich mediums of the second empire, writer and draftsman at his hours. Sometimes the contents of its works enable us to fill the gaps of its biography.
  • January 17th, 1816: it is born in Landerneau. Its family is originating in the Apple-brandy and was established in Brittany about 1750 to make trade of fabrics there. His/her father Jean-Isidore Radiguet is one of the founders of a textile large company: the Company Flax field of Finistere, in 1845.

  • 1823-1830: The young max attends the mutual school of Landerneau, creates at the instigation of industrialists and traders landernéens with the liberal ideas, and directed by a captain in retirement Mr. Tourette.
  • 1830: In pension in Paris.
  • 1838: After having made good studies, Radiguet enters the diplomacy and embarks as secretary of edge for Haiti, where it accompanies plenipotentiary French charged to settle the questions concerning the final recognition of independence the Republic of Haiti by France.
  • 1838-1841: Between two voyages, it returns to Paris, probably to make publish the accounts and drawings of this voyage. It is published by the picturesque Store as of February 1841 whereas it is only 25 years old.
  • 1841-45: military countryside of the White Queen in South America and Marchioness.
  • 1841-42: South America. The time spent to South America was probably not long but he much more wrote and drew on Chile and Peru that on the Marchionesses.
  • 1842-45: Marchionesses. From 1842 to 1845, it makes, in the capacity as secretary of the admiral Of Small Thouars, the countryside of the White Queen in Oceania, who leads to the setting in protectorate of Tahiti. Of this voyage, it brings back a considerable artistic work which was worth to him the decoration of the Legion of honor.
  • 1845-1862: After its return it passes most clearly from its time to Paris where it attends the high society. It is also put to write longer articles, more ambitious on its voyages.
  • 1862: Its very fashionable life attracts to him, appears it, the reproaches of its family fixed at Brest and compromises soon its health. Also returns it to Brittany in 1862 to find its dear native land.
  • 1862-1896: of return to Paris, assiduous visitor of the Parisian Art galleries, it sends his reports to two Brest-native newspapers.
  • 1896: old and sick, it returns definitively to Brest where it settles street of Pivot.
  • January 7th, 1899: he dies unmarried in 83 years and is buried in Brest. Its body will be transferred thereafter to the cemetery from Landerneau.
