max Immelmann (September 21st 1890 with Dresden - June 18th 1916) was a German ace of aviation of the First World War.

In 1913-14 he studies mechanical engineering in Dresden. With the release of the war it becomes pilot of recognition. In 1915 it is versed in hunting and is called the eagle of Lille ( Der Adler von Lille ).

A consistent lifting operation in half-buckles followed by a half-roll to the top used to reverse the direction of the flight quickly bears its name: the the immelmann.

He was the first pilot to receive the medal For the Merit which was called the max blue among the pilots. He was also decorated with the Croix of iron 1 {{Re}} class.

Immelmann was killed in combat above Sallaumines in the north of the France. Some claim that it was victim of the Flak of its camp, others of malfonctionnement of its gun through the propeller, and according to the allies it was cut down by a F.E.2b controlled per G.R. McCubbin and the observer J.H. Waller of the Royal Flying Corps Squadron 25.

The German pilot was credited with 17 victories. and the rank of Oberleutnant had reached.
