max Born (December 11th 1882 with Wrocław - January 5th 1970) is a German Physicien , then British.

In 1921, it is named professor of Theoretical physics to Göttingen. He emigrates in England in 1933 and becomes British citizen in 1939.

Physicist exceptional theorist, it is mainly known for his important contribution to the Quantum physics: development of the mechanics of the matrices introduced by Werner Heisenberg and, especially, it will be the first to give to the square of the module of the Fonction of wave the significance of a density of Probabilité of presence.

He was also a pioneer in the quantum theory of the solids (Born-Von Karmann) and in the nonlinear Electrodynamique of Born-Infeld.

He will obtain the Nobel Prize of physics in 1954 for his work on the theoretical quantum one (with Walther Bothe). The Royal Society decrees to him the Médaille Hughes in 1950.
