Max-pol. Fouchet (Saint-Vaast-the-Hougue, on May 1st 1913 - Vézelay, the August 22nd 1980) is a writer, journalist and man of French television.

Biography

Max-pol. Fouchet passes its youth to Algiers, where his/her father, ship-owner Norman gauze at the time of the First World War, has immigrant with his family. Studying in letters, he meets there Albert Camus, with which he militates with socialist Youths.

In 1939, it founds and animates the poetic review Fontaine, re-examined monthly of the Poésie and the French letters, which groups writers resistant to Algiers and which will become quickly under the Occupation, the platform of the Résistance intellectual Frenchwoman, through in particular of the writers engaged like Georges Bernanos, Aragon, Antonin Artaud, Jean Wahl, Jean Rousselot, Pierre Emmanuel, Pierre Jean Jouve, Georges-Emmanuel Clancier, Claude Roy, Loys Masson, André Frénaud, Jules Supervielle , max Jacob, Henri Michaux, Rene Tank, Jean Lescure. In 1942, it publishes “Freedom” of Paul Éluard. In parallel, it gives to rtf chronicles of Littérature and Art.

With the release, Max-pol. Fouchet traverses the sphere. Of return in France to the beginning of the year 1950, it takes part in the first steps of television with the concern to initiate the French with the culture. It creates thus, with Pierre Desgraupes and Pierre Dumayet the cultural emissions Lectures for all and the Fil of the life . But its standpoint (against the capital punishment, torture and the censure), whereas the political power still strongly frames television, moves away from there. It does not give up therefore its literary activities while publishing Romance, collections of poetry and account of voyages.

In the Years 1970, it belongs to the " committee of sélection" company of mail-order selling the Large Book of the Month . At the time of the exit of the book the Gulag Archipelago , it is opposed to the author, in particular at the time of a number of the emission Apostrophe.

During its career, he will be also journalist with Libération , professor of history of art, man of radio and archeologist.

In 1983 the French Post offices emit a stamp " Max-pol. Fouchet, 1913-1980 (1,80 + 0,40).
