Maussac

Maussac is a common French, located in the department of the Corrèze and the area the Limousin.

Geography

Located on the River Luzège

Common crossing in the East-West direction by the line of Railroad (ex PO) of Clermont-Ferrand to Brive (transverse south of Lyon-Bordeaux) and the highway A89. RN89 borders it in the south.

In addition to hamlets comprising of the farms, the commune is divided into three poles:

  • the borough itself with the church, the town hall-school, the place of the church and the cemetery,
  • with 500m in the south, the Post of Maussac , with the crossroads of RN89 and the road (D36) of Meymac with an artisanal zone and a hotel,
  • with 2km in north, Lapleau-Maussac , hamlet gathered around the station, old mine, Post office, of a school and some trade.

Places and monuments

  • small church parochial belonging at the origin with the Priory of Bonnesaigne with parts of the 12th century, altered at the 15th century and restored at the 19th century:
    • Bell-tower - turn with the southern side of the nave established in 1880.
    • original cover in Slate S thick of Allassac. According to the municipality, these slates left a few years ago on the Château of Bity to Sarran and were replaced by small ordinary mechanical slates.
  • mines of coal of Lapleau: single in the the Limousin. First patent of mining claims granted in 1809. Mines worked until in 1943. They gave a fatty forge coal (30 tons/day) which fed the munitions factory of Tulle.
