Mauron is a common French, located in the department of the Morbihan and the area Brittany.

Geography

This commune of Morbihan is also bordering on the Coasts of Armor of the Ille-et-Vilaine. Its localization made of it a crossroads on the axes leading of Dinan to Vannes and of Rennes to Quimper.

History

Air archeology testifies to a multitude of Gallic farms, which attest the agricultural richness of the territory, crossed by the Roman Voie Rennes-Quimper.

Saint Judicaël builds a monastery with the Saint-Léry locality there. The first historical quotation of Mauron goes back to 1152.

At the 18th century, a fair took place the day of the Saint Simon, October 28th.

The August 3rd 1944, the tanks of Patton penetrate in Brittany as liberators to gain Brest. The sixth armor-plated division, helped by local resistance, makes jump the German bolt installed in the agglomeration, after three hours of combat
